UFO Skirts Rural Maryland Road

Two Maryland witnesses driving along rural Dairy Road near the small town of Rising Sun stopped their vehicle as a slow-moving UFO - 50 feet across and 20 feet high - moved silently just three feet above the ground, according to May 4, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The UFO emerged from a valley area to the left of the roadway across a field.

"I turned my head to the left and seen the front of the UFO moving about three feet off the ground and going about 1 mph (just moving really slow)," the reporting witness stated.

The witness stopped the vehicle as the UFO completely emerged in front of them.

"As we were setting there watching it move, all of a sudden it stopped and was about three feet off the ground. I guess the size of it about 50 feet across and about 20 feet high. It was really big. It made no sound and the color was a dirty silver."

As the object stopped, the witness reports getting a feeling that the object did not want to be seen.

"When it stopped, it set there about three seconds, and then moved straight up about 20 feet, and stopped again. That's when I thought we may be in big trouble, but at that moment when it stopped, it was like a rocked blasting off - fire came from beneath it about 5-foot circle and still made no sound."

The object moved up, and then was gone.

"After it took off we only seen it for about 300 feet and it disappeared and was gone. The distance from us was within 200 yards so we got a really good view of it. There were no windows that I could see or any markings. I would say the whole thing from start to finish took about 90 seconds."

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on May 4, 2011. Rising Sun is in Cecil County, Maryland, population 1,702. The incident took place on July 15, 1969. Both witnesses told no one at the time about the sighting.

Maryland is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating, with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Maryland had 4 UFO reports in April 2011 - while California had 46 sightings, the highest reporting state in the nation.
