Racism studies are rather consistent in their findings that racism is early to form and difficult to eliminate. This is data that should be respected and considered when speculating about possible disclosure and contact scenarios.
If we are to speculate (as indeed we must, to some degree), let us speculate intelligently, and not, for example, assume that just because some UFOlogists and ET enthusiasts consider themselves ready for contact, others (the vast majority) will share that sentiment. A sober assessment suggests that there are many who will, upon learning of humanoid ET presence on earth, immediately ask things like, “Are they Christian?”, and be very concerned about the color of their skin. In response to suggestions that people are not ready for disclosure, exopoliticians will often point out that most Americans already believe that ETs exist. Unfortunately, the available evidence suggests that such a belief will have no impact upon emotional reactions.
The issue of public readiness for disclosure has not yet been systematically and scientifically analyzed in any of the public forums I have found to date. If such a study exists, I would love to learn about it. (CIA and Intelligence staff monitoring this site: please feel free to send me a photocopy of the readiness study, mailed in brown paper wrapping, with illegible postmark and cryptic notes for enhanced psychological effect, as per psy-ops manual, Chapter Four, section 3.45. I will post my analysis here, at no charge.)
If ET turns out to be only remotely humanoid, then the research cited is of less help, and we will depend upon imagination, and our reaction to seeing “Alien” at the movies, to anticipate our possible reactions.
