Originally published by Dell back in 1971, then entitled Haunted Lovers, this book is a thought-provoking case by case review of innumerable documented instances wherein departed loved ones have reportedly violated the conventional laws of time and space and reappeared to lovers and loved ones. Brad Steiger, while exploring in earnest the evidence that such case histories are proof of continued contact from beyond the grave, also exercises intellectual honesty as well by repeatedly offering up alternative explanations from psychological (wish fulfillment, for example) to extrasensory perception. With the ESP aspect the theory is that at the moment of death, when many of these occurrences are in fact reported and there was no normal way for the witness to have known of the departed persons passing, the witness may have instead processed a telepathic signal from the departed instead of a spirit visitation.

Nonetheless, as you continue to read story after compelling story of men and women from all walks of life who have described such paranormal encounters, you are struck by the massive weight of evidence that has been accumulated and how strongly that evidence indicates that, whatever the precise definition of such experiences mean, it seems fairly clear and obvious that there is a part of us that is not always restricted or limited by the known laws of time and space, or this so-called physical universe. Furthermore, the primary component or factor that seems to be involved in the activation of this inexplicable psychical force is the very pure and fundamental emotional element that cements and fulfills all human relationships, and that is this well-known and much talked about thing called love.
This book also delves into case histories that are even more controversial than those described in the two previous paragraphs. For example, seductive aliens from UFOs, as well as UFO beings who reportedly interrupted couples who were having intercourse, in one alleged incident taking hair samples of the female while in another case milking the male of his semen into a metallic container, as well as cases of sexual molesters from the other side.
The scope and depth of this book covers a wide range of subject matter that is seldom addressed in other books dealing with the paranormal. Though it originally came out some 38 years ago, this book’s contents remain just as relevant today as they were when first published back in 1971.
