The memory of the Giants has been passed down in legend by humankind through the ages from Homer`s Odyssey and the conflict between Odysseus and the one-eyed giant Polyphemus on the island of Sicily, to Jack the Giant Killer and his beanstalk. The Norse Prose Edda relates the journey of Thor and Loki to the Land of the Giants. Mischievous Loki was himself the son of a giant and partook of their personality traits.
The Sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.
The Giants were the offspring of the Sons of Heaven who descended to earth to take human brides (Gen. 6:4). The apostle Paul advised the women of the congregation to cover their hair because of these angels. The Sons of Heaven were the Watchers who did not keep their first estate. The Book of Enoch tells of their progeny, the Grigori, the giant ones who devastated the earth revealing the secrets of metallurgy, mining, magical charms and astrology to its inhabitants. They taught the art of make-up and weaponry as well. Enoch's writings tell the history of these fallen angels and their huge and bloodthirsty children. Enoch gives a warning to all humanity of the judgment in the devastating flood to come.
In the generation of Jared, the father of Enoch, the Watchers descended. Some ancient books say that they landed on Mt. Hermon. Their leader's name was "Shemihazah", a name familiar to students of the Billy Meier Swiss UFO case. Billy's female ET contact calls herself "Semjase" and tells Billy about her ancestors in space. "Semjaza" is the alternative spelling of the name of the leader of the fallen angels in the ancient Book of Enoch. The 2 giant sons of Shemihazah received dreams that they ask Enoch to interpret.
Fragments of "The Book of Enoch" and "The Book of the Giants" were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls in the caves of Qumran. These books are a combination of primordial history and apocalypticism. The Book of the Giants is more elaborate than Enoch with its dialogue, martial encounters, symbolic dreams, journeys to distant regions, and emotion-laden soliloquies. The Manichaean version of Enoch contains characters from the Epic of Gilgamesh. Pages of this Persian version were found during excavations of Turfan, China in the Buddhist caves there. The works of Dante and Milton were both inspired by Enoch, as were the tales of Prometheus.
The descendants of the giants inhabited the land of Canaan at the time of Moses. The Israelites sent to scout out the land of milk and honey feared them, saying that they felt like grasshoppers in their sight. Moses described the original inhabitants of Moab as "Anakim" (Deut. 2:10) that is belonging to the race known as Rephaim - giants. The word "Rephaim" means "shades or fearsome giants". The spirits of the giant Rephaim who drowned in the Flood of Noah were considered to be the origin of the demons or shades in the netherworld. The Moabites referred to them as Emim - terrifying beings. They were called Zuzim or Zanzummin, as mentioned in Kabbalistic writings.
