Angelia Joiner who appeared on CNN's Larry King Live program in January regarding the Stephenville sightings then gave the following second update on her situation:
"I gave two weeks' notice but this morning they had confiscated my computer and I was told to pack up and get out. I'm devastated and still in shock.
I was trying to direct people away from talking to me about UFOs and other information during work hours and I had forwarded emails to my home computer so I would not be dealing with that on newspaper time. But, apparently that wasn't the right thing to do either.
I've just been between a rock and a hard spot if you know what I mean. The publisher said she didn't want me to leave with ill feelings toward the newspaper and I'm trying not to. I'm grateful for the opportunity the newspaper gave me in employing me as a writer. I have only been writing for them 18 months and I've learned a lot but I still have a lot more to learn."
Angelia Joiner may not want to be critical towards the newspaper but there is no stopping myself from giving a view on the attitude of the newspaper. Though it may have been Angelia's choice to leave the newspaper it is clear that pressure to stop covering the UFO sightings pushed Angelia off the edge so to speak. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that the newspaper has lost such a talented writer due to being embarrassed about covering UFO's. When will the newspapers and other media companies wake up and see that the subject of UFO's is very real and certainly not a matter to laugh at or ridicule.
In response to the news from Angelia Joiner I must quote one of the latest issues of UFO Magazine published by Bill and Nancy Birnes - "The disgrace that is our national media" This is not aimed in any way to criticise Angelia Joiner I have nothing but respect for her for covering the Stephenville incident with such professionalism. My comments are however directed at the Stephenville Empire Tribune for losing a talented writer due to feeling embarrassed about covering UFO's in their paper.
