Texas UFOs described by local officers; firefighters have UFO safety duties Part Iby Steve Hammons
Posted: 12:08 February 19, 2008
On in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, an on-duty peace
officer in the Erath County, Texas, region saw a very unusual object in the
skies.
It changed shape several times and was caught on the patrol car's video
camera.
This was not the first or the last sightings of unusual objects in the sky
observed by regional public safety officers around Stephenville.
Four days ealier, Erath County Constable Lee Roy Gaitan had spotted
approximately ten very unusual lights in the sky in the evening of Tuesday,
Jan. 8.
Gaitan's observations came to public attention about the same time as
several other local citizens came forward with other reports of a huge,
mile-long object of some kind.
When other officers reportedly approached Gaitan about their own sightings,
including the Jan. 12 incident on videotape, he was about to see something
that was even more distinct and surprising than the extremely bright and
vivid lights he had seen.
PATROL CAR VIDEO
Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist Linda Moulton Howe spent several
days in Stephenville and Erath County in January interviewing witnesses and
learning about the area.
Howe reports on her interview with Gaitan on her Web site Earthfiles.com and
in the online radio show "Dreamland" on UnknownCountry.com.
According to Howe's reporting, Gaitan stated, "I saw a video that was taken
from an in-the-dash camera (of police car) while an officer was on duty. It
was not on the same night that I witnessed the lights with my son."
Gaitan continued, "As a matter of fact, it was that Saturday (Jan. 12,
2008). I had the privilege to see this video. I saw what the officer saw on
video and this aerial object changed forms three different times."
"The first time, I believe he said it was about 2 a.m. when he first saw it.
It's a white glow moving very slowly in the sky. Then it changes from white
to green to blue and red lights. It looks almost like a strobe."
"I watch this thing in the police video and it appears to be some type of
aerial object that is round. It changes from white to these different
colors."
"The police officer says, 'Keep watching,' and I watched for approximately
another eight minutes."
