The Torrington, Connecticut UFO Flap By Robert D. Morningstar (Copyright 2009, Robert D. Morningstar - All Rights Reserved) Posted: 15:37 March 13, 2009 As Editor of UFO Digest, I receive weekly reports on UFO activities around the world. This latest one hit very close to home. The story of the Torrington UFO Flap for me began with this email from a resident of Torrington, a small Connecticut town near Hartford." Upon venturing a bit further away than usual they encountered military personnel who told them they needed to leave, that they were trespassing. Goshen does not have military land. There has been an increase in helicopter activity over the last few days. I have no further information, but may take a drive up there later today and look around. Very rural area, many roads, very little industry, mostly single family homes, farms, a church, small town hall, one school, a farm machinery store, small commercial smokehouse, couple of small ponds and two wild animal farms. I have requested further information from the poster. Keep you informed, Don To which I replied: Re: Don & Crow lines to Sikorsky This is is sounding more and more interesting everyday. Perhaps this could have something to do with them. I couldn't see anything; everything was quiet. Now people are seriously reporting this large elongated red object from various locations in our area, and said it was sort of undulating as it moved. One posted a photo and I tried to get it onto my computer but the link didn't work. This object was reported from three different locations within a 30-mile radius. Some of the posters on the newspaper site just go on to yank other posters' comments. It's hard to decipher which are real and which are fake. I am giving you the gist of what has been going on in the posts. Don The local newspaper, The Register Citizen, then posted these readers' reports and comments on their "Sound Off" web page: "UFO ROUTE 8 LAST NIGHT" wrote on Mar 4, 2009 7:57 AM: "I was taking a walk outside my home last night. Being a commercial airline pilot with over 30 years experience, I always looked at the sky. But last night I saw a number of orange and red lights approaching from the west. I got my binoculars and called my neighbors to come outside. The object, by this time was a great deal closer and seemed to be right over route 8, just east of the hospital. The lights were shimmering like distortion from engine heat, but I could not hear any sound. The UFO passed over route 8, cars in both the north and southbound lanes began pulling over and stopping. The UFO displayed a semi-circular pattern of very bright multi-colored lights. Five motorists started screaming, as the object became visible, a number of cars lost power and had to pull off the highway. I'm surprised this was not in today's newspaper. A cover-up I suppose." Another witness, requesting anonymity, posted the photo he took here: Holy Mackeral wrote on Mar 4, 2009 8:10 AM: "Now you heard those motorists on Rt # 8 screaming from outside your home? UFOs wrote on Mar 4, 2009 9:40 AM: "Did you really see a UFO over route 8 and did it do what you say it did causing cars to lose power or are you just making it up? There was a story of a UFO sighting they talked about on the History Channel in another part of the country in which they had a lot of sightings including police officers seeing a object. One of the cops followed the object for awhile and it stopped moving and hovered and his police car lost power along with radio contact to his station. If aliens were to really exist with the amount of sightings and lets say a few are Extra Terrestrials flying the crafts then we could say it would be possible they live somewhere within the planet and aren't flying in from outer space. If aliens existed think of how it would effect (sic) religion or the fear of the country. You people are trying to figure out how to keep illegal immigrants out of Torrington. Users of the lanterns are warned to avoid windy conditions, airports and property (including gazebos). There is also implications for gorseland and dry fields, which can become a tinderbox in summer (although incessant rain means that is unlikely to be a major problem this year). Mrs Brown decided to tell the Republican about the lanterns after she read about people who claimed they had seen UFOs. People have described seeing an "orange blob" in the sky, which is remarkably similar to what a lit sky lantern looks like. "We've been highly amused by all this talk. It was a case of I wonder who's going to be in the paper this week." Mrs Brown, who works for the career advice service Connexions, said if she had seen the lanterns float over her garden, she would have wanted to know more. "I would have been really puzzled. I probably would have talked about it for quite a while afterwards. But I think common sense would have prevailed," she said: "Goodness only knows what aliens would be doing here. They'd take one look at our civilization (sic) and want to leave." "UFO Sightings" wrote on Mar 4, 2009 10:17 AM: "If some of you are interested in UFO sightings tune into the History Channel tonight at 10 pm. Every Wednesday night at 10 they air up to date UFO sightings and investigate them." "UFOs" wrote on Mar 4, 2009 10:20 AM: " Some of the investigations they do on the UFO Hunters show on the History Channel is they experiment with flares with lanterns and other things to see if the witnesses could identify it as being what they saw or if it was something else. If they launched Chinese Lanterns in the past 2 months that would be a very good explaination (sic)" ![]() M* Enhancement of Torrington Connecticut UFO Red for Blue Color Swap Equalized Humidity in Atmosphere Creates Halo-like Effect Torrington, Connecticut March 6th, 2009 UFOs and the Press We have been looking for the UFOs and I have not been able to find them. We have been searching in all local, state and national media for the UFOs over the City of Torrington. In the past week, numerous people have been writing in Sound Off and posting comments on the web regarding the rash of sightings in the past week. The City is being invaded and the press is not covering the story. Why, why, why? Newspapers need to increase circulation and their failure to cover a hot topic like this is an injustice to their business and our right to have news brought to us on subjects that are news and are news worthy. When the UFO was reported on 01/01/07 over O'Hare Airport in Chicago, the newspaper sold a record number of papers. More people are interested in this topic than the press realizes. We host a weekly local TV show called Spiritual and Paranormal Experiences on Cable 5 every Tuesday at 5 p.m. We also host a weekly radio internet call in show immediately following our TV program. We are conducting an investigation and will be requesting local, state, federal, and other authorities to conduct a formal investigation on what are the Unidentified Objects in the sky over the city of Torrington, CT. If you have seen these objects and wish to come forward please contact us at on the web www.cbezio.com<, e-mail chuck@cbezio.com or phone: (860) 866-4793. We as a community need to know if the police are investigating this? What actions have the Mayor and the city done? What is the state planning to do? Is the military monitoring this? Afterward we followed it and it disappeared in the pond across from the wildlife game farm."
