"What time did this UFO stroll over Torrington lat night?
I was on the highway and didn't see nothing (sic) more than a clear night sky.
I did how ever (sic) witness a (sic) immigrant pushing a shopping cart yesterday down the sidewalk by Carls (sic) true value (sic).
Very interesting sight to watch as I waited for the light.
This guy was of muslim (sic) descent and was wearing a dress and sandles.(sic)
Possibly a (sic) alien?????"

The writer, "What UFO," at least spelled "alien" correctly.

"Did you really see a UFO over route 8 and did it do what you say it did causing cars to lose power or are you just making it up?
There was a story of a UFO sighting they talked about on the History Channel in another part of the country in which they had a lot of sightings including police officers seeing a object. One of the cops followed the object for awhile and it stopped moving and hovered and his police car lost power along with radio contact to his station.
If aliens were to really exist with the amount of sightings and lets say a few are Extra Terrestrials flying the crafts then we could say it would be possible they live somewhere within the planet and aren't flying in from outer space.
If aliens existed think of how it would effect (sic) religion or the fear of the country.
You people are trying to figure out how to keep illegal immigrants out of Torrington.
What about Extra Terrestrial beings going wherever they want with no problem getting around security?
Then if they were to exist it would be smart for the government to keep it quiet if they knew they did exist because whenever someone sees a craft they can't say it's a alien craft or a military craft giving the military perfect stealth because people will always question what they actually saw."

"UFO MYSTERY SOLVED" wrote on Mar 4, 2009 10:16 AM:
" The mystery surrounding apparent UFO sightings in the sky over near the hospital last week may have been solved by a Torrington woman.
Lyn Brown, 44, said the glowing objects which have been spotted in recent weeks, are probably Chinese "sky lanterns", also known as Khoom Fay.
Mrs Brown said she had bought 40 of the metre-tall paper lanterns, which contain a wick, which is lit by a flame, from the internet auction site eBay in June.
She and her friends had released dozens of them into the sky in the past two months. The lanterns are marketed as an ideal way to celebrate special events, such as birthdays and weddings. She said:
"They're really gorgeous. After the wick has been lit, it's crucial to wait until the lantern begins to float.
We nearly had a calamity the other day; the wind took one towards next door's gazebo.
We're were worried it would crash in a ball of flame."
Users of the lanterns are warned to avoid windy conditions, airports and property (including gazebos). There is also implications for gorseland and dry fields, which can become a tinderbox in summer (although incessant rain means that is unlikely to be a major problem this year).
Mrs Brown decided to tell the Republican about the lanterns after she read about people who claimed they had seen UFOs.
People have described seeing an "orange blob" in the sky, which is remarkably similar to what a lit sky lantern looks like.
Mrs Brown decided to keep quiet until now because of the entertainment it has given her family.
"We've been highly amused by all this talk. It was a case of I wonder who's going to be in the paper this week."
Mrs Brown, who works for the career advice service Connexions, said if she had seen the lanterns float over her garden, she would have wanted to know more. "I would have been really puzzled. I probably would have talked about it for quite a while afterwards. But I think common sense would have prevailed," she said:
"Goodness only knows what aliens would be doing here.
They'd take one look at our civilization (sic) and want to leave."
