Recently a story titled New Moore Island Disappears Into Sea From Global Warming appeared in several world newspapers and most internet news sources. The article stated that recent satellite images show the island completely submerged and maritime vessels in the area confirm that New Moore Island is no more and that Global Warming has settled the long dispute between India and Bangladesh over the sovereignty of the island.
This article is very disturbing to say the least because it is a total lie and distorting of the real facts regarding this small delta island to make readers believe Global Warming is totally responsible for its disappearance.
In fact this island did not even exist before 1970 when a cyclone created it by depositing mud and silt in the area from runoff of the areas many rivers. Since then the Island disappeared and reappeared many times with high and low ocean tides.
Local ocean level instruments in India show only an inert rise in sea levels in the area since 1937.
This whole area of the world is only a few feet above sea level as it is a river delta similar to that of the Mississippi Delta in Louisiana.
The real reason for this island's submergence is due to unusually high runoff from swollen rivers in the area due to spring thaw of mountain snow packs and daily high and low tides. New Moore Island is a victim of erosion rather than rising sea levels. Its birth was due to severe erosion and its disappearance came from the same forces of nature.
The truth of the matter is New Moore Island did not disappear due to rising sea levels caused by Global Warming because current ocean levels are unchanged from what they have been for hundreds of years.
The Global Warming alarmists would have us believe a sudden rise in ocean levels submerged this piece of land that has been above water since its birth but this is simply not the case. It really takes some analyzing of the facts and research into certain topics when it comes to fantastic claims made by the Global Warming alarmists appearing in the news. However not one claim made by these clowns can be proven as concrete fact and each and every time they are researched it shows a complete distortion of the facts as they really are.
It is time we recognize the Global Warming issue for what it really is and this is that it is an ideology similar to that of any religion and as with religions it is up to those who follow its dogmatic doctrine to firmly believe in it or not. As the Christian Bible or another religious text has its stories and revelations to guide followers in daily life the Global Warming Cult has its scenarios, revelations of doom and computer imaging to guide its believers.
