November 7th, 2006, was a Tuesday.
Thanksgiving (USA), with its increased travel, was Thursday, Nov 23rd.
Here's a follow-up comment from Dave Morton on the media's coverage of the O'Hare Incident once TV and Cable News picked up the story. By the way, The Chicago Tribune registered over 1,000,000 hits on their website (the most ever) after Jon Hilkevitch published his report.
More comments on O'Hare UFO from Dave Morton
Interesting points regarding the Chicago O'Hare UFO sighting on Nov 7th, 2006, at 4:30pm in the afternoon (during daylight), finally published in early January, 2007 by the Chicago Tribune after some prodding by Peter Davenport (NUFORC) in November, taking almost 2 months to be acknowledged and reported by the media.
Reporter Jon Hilkevitch of the Chicago Tribune did a good job, but subsequent rewrites of the story by AP were insulting (as expected), as well as an interview on CNN with some useless skeptic with 3 degrees in English who wasn't all there, but knows how to change the subject on camera, and can make people "feel good" about their government since everything in our sky is supposedly under our control.
Jim Oberg, formerly of NASA, was just as bad, playing "the comfy uncle," while somehow managing to claim that people's observations were merely "interpretations".
Saying that you saw a dark gray, rotating object just below the overcast, which then shot up and punched a hole in the clouds, doesn't sound like "interpretation" to me...
That sounds like an "observation" to me - an observation by ramp personnel, pilots, flight attendants, and managers.
The incident was initially denied by both the FAA and United Airlines, but both have back-pedaled on their denials. Also, I've added a few important lines to that item:
"There have been documented cases where safety appears to have been implicated, and more and more we are coming to the point of view that we are dealing with an intelligent phenomenon," said Richard Haines, science director at the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena, a private agency.
