During the 1950s, this official, sub rosa CIA policy came to mean that all measures would be used to keep UFOs Top Secret. This included surveillance, stalking, menacing and "termination with extreme prejudice" of individuals who had wittingly or unwittingly acquired or possessed physical samples (especially, metals or metallic debris) of any kind left by UFOs or Flying Saucers. Uncooperative witnesses had to be silenced and the material taken from them (willingly or unwillingly) to prevent the Soviet Union or any other nation on Earth from acquiring any materials of any kind whatsoever originating from human encounters, interactions with or experience of the UFO phenomenon in the air, the sea or on the ground.
During the same interview with Mike Wallace, Maj. Keyhoe forthrightly exposed the existence of Air Force Regulation 200-2, which Wallace denied actually existed.
AFR 200-2 certainly does exist and, most importantly, is still in effect among USAF personnel.
Read AFR 200-2 www.nicap.org/directives/afr200-2_081254.htm
Wallace furthermore claimed, regarding the US Air Force:
"I must confess that they have... they've certainly shown me no classified material, but they have opened their files quite willingly…"
Yet, the fact is that the USAF had certainly shared "classified material" with Wallace by simply feeding him conclusions and recommendations of the Robertson Panel, whose very existence (and the fact that many on the rigged panel were working as agents of the CIA) was classified "Top Secret" in 1957. Note the names given to the Robertson Panel in the CIA's Durant Report below and the organizer in the title below:
"REPORT OF SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY PANEL ON UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS CONVENED BY OFFICE OF SCIENTIFIC INTELLIGENCE, CIA
January 14 - 18, 1953 "
Major Donald E. Keyhoe and NICAP continued to battle for government disclosure of UFO information from the 1950s through the 1980s. Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to Major Keyhoe and others who courageously ventured into the murky, dangerous waters of Flying Saucers, UFOs, intelligence intrigues and challenged national security paranoia in the 1950s to bring public attention to one of the most important issues facing mankind today. Major Keyhoe's work has prepared the American public for the prospect of perhaps immanent contact with a race of alien beings who have been watching the Earth and us for a very long time or the possibility of an interplanetary war with them.
But has anything really changed since Major Keyhoe's days? What is the current US Air Force policy and thesis on UFOs and the possible existence of extraterrestrial intelligence?
Let's visit the U.S.A.F.'s. "Air University" and see what we find.. Well, Look at this!
Here is the cover page of an old student thesis dating way back to 1968, forty years ago!

UFOs AND EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE
A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of The Requirements for Graduation
Captain Stanley's thesis states that "unknowns have accumulated" and describes "thoughts on physical seizure."
Is it possible to seize physically something that doesn't exist? I don't think so.
I think the U.S. Air Force has really come to believes in Flying Saucers/UFOs and would like to tell the American public what they know but they just don't know how.
The U.S. Air Force and the United States Government are stuck in a "Catch 22" of their own creation, mutually bound by lies and, like the Fallen Watchers in The Book of Enoch, "bonded by mutual imprecations."
"O, what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive!"
The piles of lies that they have plied upon the American public and the falsehoods foisted for over 60 years now cement them to their position, which appears to be, painted into a corner, like the Ol' Navy saying goes… "holding their ankles."
