The object came from the right, moving at a slow speed (comparable to that of a bicycle), and it moved consistently, without accelerations or stops. It did not emit any noise or heat, but rather "a light smoke" (like steam or water vapor?) which issued from some white lights. The UFO appeared to be a "huge, compact, rectangular mass, with a surface shiny, like aluminum." The length is estimated at about 200 m and the height about 100 m. In this mass there were many white lights, with some of them projecting large white beams. Within this rectangle, the lights seemed to be connected by a structure. The whole object stood out from the night sky, being therefore clearly visible.
The UFO was seen through the front windshield by Philippe, seated as a passenger on the right side of the car. Then the car was stopped and the machine was observed through the lowered side window. The distance of the witnesses to the UFO was "difficult [to estimate], perhaps between 500 and 1000 meters." And, per Philippe: "All I can say is that I will never be able to forget this November 5th, because my wife brought twins into the world that day."
At the beginning of our contact, Philippe did not want to tell me that he had been in the company of his friend, Sandrine Sutarik, because she wanted to remain anonymous. However, in the course of the weeks and months, we saw each other quite frequently because Philippe had now developed a passion for the subject of UFOs! And one day, while Philippe, Alain (one of my friends) and myself, were discussing a "green light" seen in the Gold Coast region of Mirebeau by Mr. and Mrs. Sutarik of Corbeil-Essonnes on the night of May 17-18, 1970, we realized that it was definitely their own daughter, Sandrine Sutarik, who was with Philippe on the famous evening of November 5, 1990!!!
It is another strange coincidence that 20 years later ... it was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sutarik who was witness to a UFO event, and it was again myself who was involved with this same family!
I have the report which I wrote in 1971 in connection with the observation on the night of May 17 - 18, 1970. Also, an article on this event, Night Lights Over Bourgogne, by Henry-Jean Besset, was published in the September, 1970 (No. 25) issue of Space Phenomena, the review of the GEPA (Group for the Study of Aerial Phenomena). I was a member of the GEPA from 1970 to 1974 myself.
Mrs. Sutarik was a professor of English in Corbeil-Essonnes and Mr. Sutarik, a professor of gymnastics. Today, Mr. Sutarik is deceased. Mrs. Sutarik lives in Villabé, a small village near Corbeil-Essonnes, where she was once a town councillor.
Philippe told me that when he read my report from 1971 to Sandrine she was completely astonished, as she had no memory of her parents seeing a UFO!
