As a researcher most of my life of UFOs, the paranormal, and all things strange and unusual that shouldn't be but are I find the question of life, intelligent or otherwise existing elsewhere in the universe other than here on Earth to be moot.
We human beings view life forms as organic in nature from the smallest single celled bacterium to multi celled living beings such as we are but we overlook inanimate objects such as rocks, soil and water as having any characteristics of our perception of life.
We do not consider the most minute particles such as atoms, protons and neutrons as being living entities but rather we consider them subatomic particles existing in all matter, living or not in the known universe that are necessary for the manifestation of solid objects and are the energy bond holding the mass together.
However since all life forms and inanimate objects exist because of the manipulation of these particles it boils down to the creation of living organisms in an environment which becomes hospitable to our perception of life from the formation matter itself. Thus all physical matter in general could be viewed as subsistent.
On a grand scale such as planets, solar systems, entire galaxies and the whole universe, the same is true it is all living matter. Everything within the universe as well as the universe itself is a living entity.
All matter in the universe is held in place by the gravitational forces produced by the matter such as planets are held in place within a solar system by the central star's gravitational forces of attraction and repulsion along with the same forces produced by the planets themselves. This is also true of galaxies even though separated by countless miles each galaxy has an influence on their neighbor thus the universe itself can be considered a superatomic entity.
If indeed this is true, our physical universe is itself existing among other physical universes, which are all held in place by the gravitational repulsion and attraction each have on one and the other.
As all things are interconnected from the smallest subatomic particle to, the grandest superatomic entity one must assume that all interconnected universes make up an even grander palatial essence.
Thus one can conclude that no place exists anywhere even in deep space where nothing exists because at a subatomic level it has to be made up of some infinitesimal material.
Since the discovery of nanotechnology, the possibility of animating inanimate objects has become possible it is just a matter of splicing living subatomic particles with those of a non-living entity. An example of this could be literally growing your own stainless steel counter top to a specified size and shape. Of course, such an idea is still years away but will be possible in our future.
