Gary Val Venuta wrote an article Alpha Numbers: Is the English Language
Encoded?" for UFO Digest on June 1, 2007. Since I am probably the resident
expert on Gematria, Jewish numerology, as well as Kabbalah, let me explain why
I do not believe that the English language is divinely encoded. About ten
years ago, I was a part of an international group investigating the so called
Bible Codes of equal letter sequences in the Torah (first five books of Moses)
that also may shed some light on this issue.
First and foremost of all is the belief by Orthodox Jews based upon the Oral
Law that God literally dictated the Torah to Moses on Mount Sinai letter by
letter, black fire on white fire. Thus the word of God was not given through
Moses but to Moses. Mr. Val Tenuta said, "Language is part and parcel of
divine creation as are numbers". This is correct but only would apply to
Hebrew, the language that God spoke to Moses. Thus both Hebrew letters and the
numbers derived from these letters were considered to be divinely inspired. To
imply that maybe Greek or even English for that matter might hold some divine
codes is ludicrous. That is why Hebrew scribes had to copy the Torah by hand
and if they messed up even one letter the entire Torah had to be burned. No
such rigor has ever been applied to any other book because none else came
directly from God. The English language also is derived from Anglo Saxon, Indo
-European and Germanic roots and thus cannot be considered to be pure enough
to possibly hold a divine code.
When Mr. Val Venuta tried to show that these English codes demonstrate
equivalence between Lucifer and Jesus, I became convinced that either he was a
Mormon, who believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers, or else this finding
definitely was not kosher. Besides, the name Lucifer is a creation of the King
James Bible and does not appear in the Old Testament, and furthermore, there
is no letter J in Hebrew and thus Jesus is really Yeshua.
