Religion Our Greatest Deceptionby Tony Elliott
Posted: 16:00 June 8, 2009
There are many who believe in dogma whether Christian, Judaism or the various slew of differing faiths in existence that fear those who dare to explore the spiritual and unknown capabilities locked within our essence as human beings. Many of faith fear the natural pleasures of life such as sex, gambling, and other natural gratifications that exist in our modern world.
To some of faith a state lottery is considered sinful but because of the need for capital, it is allowed and praised as a tool for bringing in much needed relief to a state's strapped financial situation but you look at it the fact remains that it is still gambling.
Sex is one of the taboos of the faithful that tops the list of sins but here again in some religions having more than one spouse is considered more natural than just being married to one.
It all becomes a matter of what religion will accommodate the sins one wants to commit. For every sinful act there is a dogmatic doctrine somewhere which will praise it.
For those of us who wish to grow spiritually automatically find that being religious or following a certain doctrine contrasts with this goal. The reason being that all organized religions teach their followers to be fearful of becoming spiritual. This is the defense mechanism each religion has built into its core to keep followers from exploring their spirituality. Once one wanders far enough into finding themselves spiritually, they realize their religion is a very separate entity, had nothing what so ever to do with spirituality, and actually kept them from becoming so.
I have grown beyond the bounds of religious dogma to become very spiritual and I know I have a long way to go from here. In my spiritual quest, I realize spirituality cannot be taught from a book or person but must be realized from within through experiences one has on a daily basis both physically and spiritually.
When one reaches, a certain point in their growth they realize the black and white world of good vs. bad we live in is a human one. In the vastness of the universe both seen and unseen there exists indifference rather than good or evil.
Anyone who has had a bad spiritual experience has himself or herself to blame because of their own ideas of demons and evil influences. That is not to say they do not exist but one can draw such influences to them from what they have hidden in the deep recesses of their sub consciousness.
I believe the greatest deception human civilization has ever bestowed upon itself is organized religion. Religion keeps us from spiritual growth and from evolutionizing into a higher being.
We are a civilization separated by some seven billion but share the same spirit as one living entity.
When one reaches a certain point spiritually, you get a feel of the world community at all times. An example of this is about a week before the crash of Air France Flight 447 I found myself looking for videos of planes flying through thunderstorms. I thought nothing of it because I have always been interested in storms and have done my share of flying as well and it just seemed as something interesting to watch. However, later when the news of the crash came in this feeling of bewilderment came over me and I wondered if I knew any one on the flight since I had seemed to be so close to it on a spiritual level. The bottom line is I had a connection to this flight and its fate since I am tuned into the collective consciousness of the masses.
