In 1983, I was the Arizona State Director of the Jewish National Fund based in Phoenix. This organization plants trees all over Israel. I had left (denied tenure) the University of Arizona in Tucson, the Fall before, as an Assistant Professor of History. I was still an unsaved, know it all, overeducated Jew who continued to love Jewish mysticism. I had read the Zohar, The Book of Splendor, the Bible of Kabbalah, and had even taught parts of it to my university students. If old time Rabbis believed in astrology, reincarnation (gilgul), and spirit guides as described in the Zohar (Kabbalah) why could not I? I had also taught a class at the university entitled "Alternate Conceptions of Reality' which was totally New Age and demonic

One day at the office at the JNF, I began to channel drawings from the spirit world to paper (automatic writing). I showed them to my mystical rabbi friends and they loved them and told me to get them published which I did in the University of California Journal DreamWorks (vol. 4. no. 3 1984 pgs. 180-181). I called the article an Excursion into the Yenne Velt (Yiddish for other world) and prefaced this first drawing with a ramble about alternate states of consciousness that we all experience. I called my automatic writing a state of waking or lucid dreaming. Boy was I ever deceived!

I later sent these drawings to psychic Ruth Montgomery who loved them and told me to contact another famous psychic in Phoenix whom she knew and thus began several years of our ungodly association as well as the association with my new astrologer. I even went to LA and studied with a kabbalistic Rabbi Berg who now is associated with Madonna and others. Miraculously, several years later in 1988 as I was running from God as fast as I could and was even living with a woman as my marriage had crumbled, God found me with His amazing grace. I had a 'on the road to Damascus' revelation experience that changed my life forever.

I destroyed all of my drawings and new age articles. Several years later in the mid 1990s, God lay on my heart to write a story about the rapture and UFOs. He old me how those left behind would be deceived to believe that we were abducted by UFOs not taken to be with Jesus.

I wrote a spec treatment for the X Files TV show on this reality and sent it to producer Chris Carter. They said they liked my writing but that it was not right for them but did not return it. It wasn't until nine months later that I got it back from 20th Century Fox's chief lawyer supposedly unread. I knew I had something. I rewrote it with new characters other than Mulder and Scully, when suddenly I received back this first image from a discontented fellow Flagstaff citizen who hated my Letters to the Editor, with the epithet 'I though that you were a Christian'.
