Whether ETAP (Extraterrestrial Abduction Phenomenon) is a real event or a psychological phenomenon, a Persinger magnetic field effect or anomaly, neurological short circuitry, an imbalance in brain chemistry or discharges of psychic energy from some Jungian archetype of "The Collective Unconscious," the aftereffects that it has on the mental and physical condition of the victim/experiencer are real and pronounced, affecting all members of our society in different ways.
Some of these are the seeding of doubt in each other in our communities and mistrust in society between believers and non-believers with each disparaging the others. Another aftereffect, a psychological one is the creation and inculcation (via mass media) of feelings of confusion, hope, excitement or dread and fear (of the unknown) in the public mind.
The phenomenon ought to be studied and considered seriously and those who have undergone abduction should be respected and assisted in adjusting to post-ETAP living just like the Fox Newsmen, Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig, recently abducted and released by Middle Eastern terrorists.
In their case, having survived and returned alive, it was an instance of physical abuse and psychological terrorism, which is no different from what we are discussing when considering reports of Alien Abduction, i.e. physical abuse and psychological terrorism inflicted upon both adults and children. ETAP can also be likened to the infamous and now well-known North Korean abductions of Japanese and other foreigners to supply of their needs and deficits in intelligence and science but ETs seem more considerate (or more efficient). North Korea keeps abductees for years but both North Koreans and The Greys are sometimes forced to kill their abductees.
For what reason, we still don't know. Why some, not others, or all?
I concur with the views expressed by Ms. Rose Hargrove (R.N.) in her analytical essay of this phenomenon:
Post Abduction Syndrome (PAS)

I recommend reading this practical essay on post-ETAP life, recovery and integration. Ms. Hargrove gives insightful personal views and pertinent remarks on the work of Dr. David M. Jacobs, author of "The Threat" and "Secret Life."
Finally, without a doubt, whether ETAP is real or a psychological aberration or a form of mentally illness, it could happen to any of us and we should be ready to understand and deal with it...
If and when it does or may or might or might not...
happen.
