The Biblical Answers to Patrick Cooke's Challenging Questions by Stephen Yulish PhD
Posted: 12:22 September 5, 2007
In his Close Encounters of the Biblical Kind, Part Three (UFO Digest,
September 2), author Patrick Cooke concluded his article by stating that it
was strange that the world will not be happy to see the returning Jesus. He
asked the challenging questions of why will the world fight the very Savior
that they expect to rescue them and why would the world feel so threatened by
His return He then deduced that only the falsely perceived threat of an
malevolent alien invasion could ever unite the world in a common cause to
fight against the returning benevolent Christ. This, he said, would be the
greatest deception since he believes that these so called aliens are indeed
our benefactors not our enemy.
Let me attempt to answer his questions on strictly scriptural grounds. Jesus
came the first time as a suffering lamb to offer salvation to all who believed
but will come the second time as a roaring lion to judge the unbelieving
nations (Hebrews 9:28). He will rule and reign with an iron rod for 1000 years
as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Every knee shall bow and every tongue will
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).
While there are numerous scriptures in both the Old Testament as well as the
New Testament alluding to this fact, I will just quote Revelation 19:11-21 as
proof of what I just said.
And I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse and He (Jesus) who sat upon
it is called Faithful and True. And in righteousness. He judges and wages war.
His eyes are a flame of fire and upon His head are many diadems (crowns) And
He is clothed with a robe dipped in bloodand the armies which are in heaven
clothed in fine linen white and clean were following Him on white horses (dead
Believers and those who have been raptured seven years earlier). And from His
mouth comes a sharp sword so that with it He may smite the nations. And He
will rule them with a rod of iron and He treads the winepress of the fierce
wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh is written KING
of KINGS and LORD of LORDS. And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and
their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat upon the horse and His
army. The beast was seized and the false prophet and thrown into the lake of
fire. The rest were killed with the sword which came from His mouth.
With all due respect to Mr. Cooke, no wonder that the unbelieving world will
not welcome the return of Jesus Christ since He will judge them and smite them
with the wrath of God. They will not unite because they think He is a
malevolent alien but because they will realize that He is coming to wage war
on them and to judge them with a rod of iron so that every knee will bow and
every tongue will confess that He is Lord.
All of Patrick Cookes challenging questions are answered in Scripture. The
great deception that will make people think that those who disappear were
actually taken by extraterrestrials will occur during the Rapture of Believers
(1Corinthians 15:52) seven years before the Second Coming of Christ.
