Strange Light Over Long Island Soundby Chris Holly

I saw the light immediately. I was drawn to it right away, as it was much bigger then all the other lights in the sky. At first I thought it was a plane, which would explain it being lower and much bigger then the stars. It took only a few seconds for me to realize it was not moving and that it was one color, not the lights of typical aircraft. I could not believe that I was seeing this now at this time. As with many strange events that have occurred during my lifetime- they never happen when I am ready and seem to always come about when they are the last thing I am thinking about!
Whatever this light was it did not seem to belong in the sky with the other objects. It was pure white and very bright. It was very long and wide. I would judge it to be about the size of a super market hanging in the sky.
It was about half way between Long Island and Connecticut over the Long Island Sound.
It was diamond shaped and looked very much like a huge diamond ring hanging in the sky. It did not sparkle it was just clear white and extremely bright. It was beautiful and it did not belong there.
By the time my friend returned I had gotten myself up off the ground however did not take my eyes off the large diamond light hovering over the water. My friend walked over to me and casually said- “ What are you looking at?” I placed my hands on her shoulders and turned her towards the light. She stood there and looked at it and slowly asked, “What the hell is that?” We just stood there maybe 15 seconds staring at it when- SNAP- just that fast, it was gone. It was there one second and gone the next. I do not know if it turned off its light or took off or just disappeared. All I can tell you is that it was there and then it was not.
We looked at each other and both felt uneasy and with out a word spoken ran into her house and locked the doors and turned on all the lights. My friend called all her surrounding neighbors and told them what we had seen and asked them to keep a look out to see if it returned. She called the local police and asked if anyone else had seen anything but was told no others had called anything in.
I have no idea what we saw but I know it was huge, bright, perfectly diamond shaped and silent. It also hovered without any movement and then vanished right before our eyes.
I have seen other crafts in my lifetime but I have never seen anything like this light before. My friend remarked that it was hovering close to the large electric plant that is located right on the coast a few miles down the coastline built right on the shore.
I have no idea what that light was. I do know I have never seen anything like it before and was rather awe struck by its size and ability to leave in the way that it did. We watched out of the windows for a very long time however It did not return.
October has always been a time when the area where I live has had sightings of crafts and events of the unknown. I think this year will not be any different and this sighting a start of another fall season where we all should pay attention to the sky and be alert to our surroundings.
These things seem to be there so often in so many areas of the world that I think it will be more common place for all of us to see things we can only list as unknown. The only thing needed is for us to all start being alert to what belongs and what does not and to pay attention to that which is different. It surely will be our road to understanding the truth of what really goes on around us.
