Well, I didn't wait around to find out just what she was talkin' about. So, I hauled butt, out of there.
Just before I reached the end of the dirt path, Cissy yelled out, "Joey, come back, it's o.k."
I said, "Are you sure, Cissy?"
She replied, "Get back here! It's just a bunch of dead cows, or something."
Well, I didn't think I'd messed up my pants yet, so I went back to see what she was talkin' about. There they were, some kind'a dead animals, just like Cissy had said. So, when we were done checkin' all of that out, we decided to go a little further.
You wouldn't believe what we found next! It was an old castle- like looking mansion that had been torn down, some time ago. It still had the old fireplace and a huge, old, pool (that had weeds and junk all over its floor).
I told Cissy, "This place must'a been blown up in a war, or something."
She looked at me kind'a scary and said, "This place is weird! Look at them stairs goin' down in the ground, over there!"
Well, I looked, but that's as far as I went.
Well, even though it was the weirdest place Cissy and I had ever been, for some reason we kept on goin' back, every chance we got. We'd find different things, pretty much, every other time we went there. We had such good times exploring the "ruins", that we sort'a considered it our special place, after a while. One day, that all ended.
It was a couple of years later, and Cissy and I decided that it was time to go down those stairs to see what was in there. I remember Cissy saying to me, "Joey, I know that you're a little bigger, now, but I really don't know if this is such a good idea."
I looked at her with my chest out and said," I think I can handle it, Cissy. I'm a big boy, now, and there ain't anyone or anything in there that can scare me, that's for sure!"
So, off we went with me in front, and Cissy, right behind.
It must'a been twelve or thirteen steps before we landed on the bottom floor and it was real dark in there, as well. I thought I saw a trapped door so I turned to tell Cissy, but she was gone.
I yelled up at her, "Where'd you go?"
She hollered back, "Didn't you hear that banging noise?"
