Margaret Avis was driving from Grantham to Bourne in Lincolnshire, UK at around 8.05 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, when she saw flashes in the sky after turning towards Corby Glen.

Margaret said: "Before I reached the first village, I noticed a mysterious object in the sky to my right hand side, that shone two bright white lights and one red light. I could describe it as oval in shape.

"The red light was flashing. I slowed down to try and get a better view of the object and lost sight of it for a short while. It then reappeared ahead of me and it appeared to be circling the car.

"I lost sight once again, and when it reappeared it was higher in the sky and had two white lights and one green light. It remained high in the sky until I reached Stamford Hill, where I saw it for the last time."

When she got home Margaret told her daughter and partner about her near-miss but they both laughed. However, Margaret was a little shaken by the incident.

She said: "I wanted to stop the car but I was too scared to. It was certainly something I had never seen before. Most of the people I tell are convinced it was an aeroplane from RAF Cottesmore. If this is true, then it was a strange one."
