One week later Cummings said she had morning sickness and considered her prayer answered in record time. Her second daughter was born with a clubfoot and special shoes would be needed, along with seeing doctores and specialists. Cummings kept saying prayers to Jesus, rubbed her daughters foot daily and within a short time saw the foot straighten out.
That summer "Our Lady" was to have appeared to Cummings in the families flower garden. "Our Lady" spoke but once again Cummings did not remember what was said. After her daughters grew up, moved away and married, Cummings began to feel an uncontrollable pull that she couldn't put her finger on. Perhaps with synchronicity at work, Cummings was beginning to understand her purpose in life. It would no longer be just a wife and mother but in time she would be called a "Holy".
Cummings mission to ease pain and suffering came out of a 1983 visit to Fatima, Portugal. Participating in a Catholic pilgramage, Cummings said she had a life changing event in her hotel room. In a private revelation, the Virgin Mary appeared to empower Cummings with the ability to help ease peoples emotional and spiritual pain. After this visitation, Cummings fell ill and had a second visit from the Virgin Mary. Cummings said she experienced the act of going to Heaven. However God was to have sent her back to help the sick and suffering. She was to have been healing about 50 people per week, curing illnesses from allergies to cancer to drug addiction. Though a devout Catholic, Cummings will heal anyone regardless of their denomination. There are those with testimonies of her healing ability.
Former paraplegic George Dobler of Glen Falls, NY said; "Leah's hands radiates a magnetic white, silver or pink healing force you must feel to believe. She restored feeling and movement in my legs with her warm, tingling and tranquiling power."
Joseph Kent suffered from severe psoriasis since childhood. He had tried several remedies prescribed by dermatologists but to no avail. Then one day he came across an advertisement for Cummings in a local newspaper. Mostly out of curiousity Kent called her. In one session with Cummings, Kent was cured of the psoriasis, Kent describes; "I had some reservations but when Leah touched me it was like a ball energy going right through my body. I never felt anything like it."
In conclusion, twice I attempted to contact a skeptics group in New York state to verify the healings of Cummings but never recieved a reply from them. Other than the two healings that cured Dobler and Kent of their ailments, all other healings testimonies were devoid of names, places and other forms of contact to confirm what happened.
Healings should be backed up by a doctor to confirm what happened. Other healings need time to see if changes have occurred. An example is drug addiction. Dealing with alcohol/drug addiction is tricky because quitting is only 15% of the solution. The remaining 85% is dealing with the life problems that substance abuse masks. Cancer is another healing that many claim to have. But how many times has cancer gone into remission only to reappear at a later date? Would it be worth the time to heal someone of high cholestrol only to have them return to a breakfast of grilled pork, fried eggs and buttered toast? Preventative medicine would prevent a lot of ailments in the first place.
