Two Blocks from Slab TownOld Rockin' Chairby Joey Boon

Mrs. Gordon nodded, "Yes!"
Mom put her arms around her good friend and said," I now realize what pleasure it gives you to see my youngest boy fallin' asleep on the old rockin' chair!
A few tears came trickling down Mary Ellen's face. She'd been carrin' that weight around …way too long!
Mom hugged her a little while longer and finally said," I do want'a tell ya something else I saw in your tea leaves."
Mary Ellen took a bit and replied, "Amy, you are one of my dearest friends…but, I don't think I can handle too much more of this, today!"
Mom said," Honey!..;Look'a here! I know you almost gave up on life more than 20 years ago, right? And every time you see my boy rockin' in that old chair of his, it reminds you of the joy you could'a had, yourself…right?"
All of a sudden, Mom looked at her and smiled. She said, "Mary Ellen, don't you ever give up on yourself or the Lord's doing, 'cause he is the hope and glory in each and every one of us…ya here?"
Mom grabbed her by the hand and said," If you believe strong enough, miracles can happen!" She went further and said in a more stern voice, "What are you now, Mary Ellen...about 42, or so? Well, guess what?...You're pregnant!"
The look on Mrs. Gordon's face was one I'd never seen, before. I thought that I was happy when Santa finally delivered our presents to us at Christmas time. Well, as they say, that was one heck of a 'Kodak moment', for sure! Mrs. Gordon couldn't help but thank Mom, over and over again. And nine months later, she gave birth to a fine-lookin' little feller. She sent Mom a 'thank you' card and said that she really appreciated that day in the kitchen, and how much what Mom had told that day, changed her whole life.
Mom passed the gift of reading tea leaves or tasseography down to me, a few years later. I've only used it a few times. Some where along the way, I decided it might just be better to leave things in God's hands. Who better to deal with our hopes and dreams? It really makes ya feel good knowing that there is someone out there takin' really good care of things. If that wasn't the case…well…this world just might be one heck of a lonely place to live in!
