Where does the Power of the Anointed Come from?
by Stephen Piperno

Posted: 18:00 December 23, 2006

In every religion, healers and miracle workers always stand out amongst the congregation. Most religions testify about the power of their ancient and modern day miracle workers. These men and women are said to be able to perform miracles such as: healing the sick, casting out evil entities and being able to put the power of God over you in such a way that you may even fall to the floor. The question here is, why do these powerful men and women stand out amongst the rest and why have they been chosen to be blessed with such power?

Let us first look at Pastor Benny Hinn. Pastor Benny Hinn is a Christian Pastor and the founder of Benny Hinn Ministries. He began his ministry as a young man many years ago. He presently travels all over the world hosting spiritual crusades. Many evangelical Christians consider him to be a healer and an anointed man of God. Benny Hinn considers himself to be a born again Christian and chosen by God to heal, preach and conduct spiritual crusades throughout the world. His television show, ?This is Your Day? is watched daily by millions of Christians worldwide. Pastor Benny Hinn is also the author of the book, ?Good Morning Holy Spirit.

In several of Benny Hinn?s crusades, he often raises his hand and says, ?I feel the anointing coming on. When he believes this, he says, ?take the anointing? and he drops his hand down in a downward movement quickly. The crusade attendees often fall down, shake all over and sometimes go into a temporary sleep or trans-like state.

Benny Hinn?s followers believe that he is a man of God and he has the ?anointed power through Jesus Christ? to cast out demons, heal the sick and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. People at Benny Hinn?s crusades claim that when they attended the crusade, they were healed of: cancer, heart disease, diabetes and even being able to walk out of a wheel chair.

Although Benny Hinn teaches that this power comes from Jesus Christ and not himself, he seems to be the star at his crusades. Benny Hinn claims that all Christians have this authority to do what he does. However, Christians and non-Christians seem to flock to his crusades by the thousands. They wait on long lines outside of the places where he holds his massive crusades. The Christians on the line outside of the building do not try to heal one another before the crusade. In fact, they choose to wait on lines for hours to get inside of the building in hopes that Benny Hinn or some sort of power goes over them that will heal them.
