UFO Seen From Pagoda Tower at Magic Mountain (now Six Flags Magic Mountain) by Dirk Vander Ploeg

I received an email today from an active member of the Navy who had an interesting sighting some years ago, which confirms another sighting we have reported under the heading Backyard UFO. Because the reader is active in the Navy we will just use his first name which is Aviation ASW Operator First Class Michael (name withheld). The following is Michael's story.
I just thought that I should tell someone about this, and since seeing the article about the UFO in Santa Clarita, I thought I should way in.
To give you some background on myself, my family has been in aviation my entire life - my father and uncle were jet mechanics and rampers. I am a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy as a Naval Aircrew man, which is an enlisted flyer, and I know my aircraft very well, and this was no US military craft that I had seen in our inventory ever!.
Thank you for publishing the article in the first place, it has helped me a lot.

Original Article first published: January 20, 2007. Below is the beginning of the report:
I received a report a few days ago from Ed and Gloria Towers. They wished to report a sighting of a UFO they witnessed on July 13, 1979. The location of the sighting was Santa Clarita Valley, California, United States.
Things that seem to make this particular case unique are the detail the couple provided, including handmade sketches of the object, and their actual proximity to the object. Please keep in mind this sighting took place before digital cameras and cell phones. Photography was limited to film cameras.
