The following is Nick's description of the event:

I was on a business trip back to Beijing where I used to live. I took my camera with me on one of the weekend days I was in town to do some photography since the city had changed a lot because of the Olympics.

I was in the CBD and noticed something faint in the sky above. It was in my field of vision because I was looking up at the tallest buildings in the area, the China World Trade Center towers...I thought it was a balloon that someone had let go and expected it to disappear eventually.

But instead of disappearing it floated over me and was directly above me for about 5 minutes.
