Lan Lamphere is self-taught professional photographer and computer programmer. He has been published in many national publications including National Geographic, The Discovery Channel and The Weather Channel. Lan used his photography skills from 1997 –1999 to capture some of the most well known images of sever storms and tornados. In 1997 Lan and friends caught a unidentified object inside a thunderstorm that was producing a large funnel cloud near Loco, OK. Lan didn’t see the object with the naked eye. And he was unaware of it until about two weeks later when it was brought to his attention at a video screening by the producer of a film crew visiting the United States to do a story on Storm Chasers for Japanese television.
Lan didn’t really know what to make of the images on the tape and contact people inside the scientific community to assist him. Since the object appeared on tape near a actively forming tornado, Lan took the tape to the National Sever Storms Laboratory in Norman, OK and ask that the leading scientist there attempt to explain what the object could be.
None of them could explain the object. But they did agree that whatever the object was it was not storm related. Lan then took the tape to some of the leading members inside the UFO community on the advice of a friend. The tape was sent to Dr. Bruce Maccabee, Skeet Vaughn of NASA at Red Stone Arsenal, The University of Arizona and Jeff Sanio of M.U.F.O.N. The results of the investigation into the origins of the object were, and still remains, inconclusive.
It was at that time in 1997 that Lan received several invitations to join local and national radio shows and television as a guest in regard to this tape and its story. Most of which were turned down. Lan did agree to a story with Sightings on Fox WB in 1999 for their season debut because the producers agreed to help Lan do further research on the tape. Lan also agreed to a impromptu interview with radio show host Art Bell in 1997. He received a call in the middle of the night and was met with a very deep and clean voice saying, “Lan, this is Art Bell…” pause.
Lan replied, “Good for you.” and hung up the phone. The phone rang. Again, Lan answered and was shocked to hear Art Bell on the receiver. Except this time Art had a more direct explanation of who he was and why he was calling. So began Lan Lamphere’s career in radio broadcasting. Since then Lan has hosted three programs and has gained a tremendous amount of experience in the process. Each step has lead to Lan to an ever-expanding audience nation wide.
