On Monday's Colbert Report, Leslie Kean, a UFO expert and author of a new book, had to take a little heat from Stephen Colbert about her claims that very respectable people such as Generals, pilots and prominent politicians have witnessed real UFOs and are slowly going on the record with their accounts.

The segment begins with Colbert asking, "Haven't we settled the UFO phenomena? Why write about this now?" (Kean just released a new book, UFO: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record..)

On the idea that actual generals went on record, Colbert asks, "Real generals, or like Cap'n Crunch?"

On the idea that UFOs act in ways we can't, Colbert asks, "Like birds?"

Colbert suggests what people are actually seeing out there, naming "weather balloons and marsh gas."

what a ridiculous caricature

How dishonest a description. Keane got to make her pitch and Colbert got to make jokes. The only truly critical comment was a legitimate and funny one, "Like birds?"

Keane had said UFOs can do things our craft can't. And Colbert's question properly deflated it. "Things our crafts can't do" is often argument passing as description -- as anyone knows who reads UFO reports. Often we read witnesses say "we don't have anything that can do that," only to find out it was a chinese lantern or a plane (the recent Erie Lights case is a good example).

Anyway, it was a good appearance -- unless you're a UFO enthusiast who can't handle the least bit of criticism or suspicion of the evidence.

A UFO enthusiast? Is that how you describe these people? I suppose you'd refer to Galileo as a "Telescope buff" This isn't a hobby, these people are attempting to uncover the TRUTH about a phenomena that may save the planet because without this disclosure WE ARE DOOMED.

I used to respect Colbert for his honest opinions but not any more.He'd be the LAST person from the media from whom I'd expect the same old boring tack of ridiculing the evidence without presenting a shred of his own. The hundreds of US insiders who have been coming forward over the last 10 years or so are pretty well above suspicion and Colbert should be supporting the Disclosure movement not following the official line of ridiculing them. Apparently Colbert would rather go for the cheap joke rather than encourage a movement that could uncover the biggest cover up of the last century.
This subject encompasses ALL of the planet's problems and could remedy them if only the citizens of this world could just WAKE UP.
