Hip young British journalist goes in search of spooks. The results will surprise.
Will Storr vs The Supernatural: One Man's Search for the Truth About Ghosts
By Will Storr
Given that Will Storr is a "hip young British journalist", I was expecting this to be an exercise in high cynicism. Storr, inspired by an award-winning website by a "ghost buster", got a magazine to send him to the US to write a story about ghosts, ghost busters, devil destroyers and so on.
The result is a rather scared, and totally convinced, "hip young journalist" declaring he had definitely seen ghosts. This is a good overview of the supernatural, for believers and cynics. Storr is never snide or derogatory as people tell him strange stories about things that go bump in the night.
He discovers that just about every scientific development of the past 50 years has been brought to bear on the supernatural in an attempt to prove there is something out there. It is rather entrancing to read of devil destroyers rushing around with state-of-the-art laptops.
