Will Branson’s “Virgin Galactic” Encounter UFOs?

By Diane Tessman

Richard Branson, that boldly-going international tycoon and adventurer, plans to take 430 civilian astronauts into space by 2014, and to continue flights to the edge of space thereafter. Our NASA astronauts have reported multiple sightings and even encounters with UFOs and their enigmatic occupants since the U.S. space program began.

Will Branson’s civilian astronauts, who are people who simply could afford to buy a ticket and bravely want to go to space, be more forthcoming than the NASA astronauts as they report what are inevitable encounters with the aliens? In other words, can Ashton Kutcher, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, and Brad Pitt keep quiet? Perhaps Virgin Galactic flights will force UFO Disclosure!

Virgin Galactic, a company within Branson’s Virgin Group, plans to provide sub-orbital space flights to the paying public, along with suborbital space science missions and launches from orbit of small satellites. Eventually, Branson also plans to offer orbital human space flights.

Virgin Galactic uses two vehicles: a mothership in the form of a large fixed-wing aircraft which takes-off and lands like a normal airplane, and the actual space craft which launches from this mothership while in flight. In this way, the space craft receives a fast start-speed and maximum altitude. No more riding that flaming ball of rocket fuel in your tin can in order to break the surly bonds of Earth, Major Tom!

“White Knight Two,” Virgin Galactic The Mothership

The mothership is a large fixed-wing aircraft that looks like two normal planes linked together by their wing: the craft has three wings and each wing is attached to a hull. And the two hulls are connected by the middle wing.

The Space-craft: “SpaceShipOne”

SpaceShipOne will be the first private manned spacecraft to fly above the 100-km Karman line.

How long will the civilian astronauts have on their timeless flight as rocketmen, and how many UFOs can be seen during this time period? The time from liftoff of the White Knight booster carrying SpaceShipTwo until the touchdown of SpaceShipTwo after the sub-orbital flight will be about 2.5 hours. The sub-orbital flight itself will only be a small fraction of that time. The weightlessness will last approximately 6 minutes. Passengers will be able to release themselves from their seats during these 6 minutes and float around the cabin. So, the passengers might not be looking out the window during those 6 minutes but the rest of the flight? Our alien visitors must be even now planning daring fly-bys and maybe they will even wave at Angelina! Plus, Tom Hanks is just like me, a longtime admirer of Original Star Trek, and I admit I am envious; if I had the money, I’d be in the next seat on SpaceShipTwo!

SpaceShipTwo flies to a height of 110 km, going beyond the defined boundary of space (100 km). The spacecraft reaches a top speed of Mach 4 (1000 m/s), faster than most current fighter jets, the exception being the MiG-25. However, the spacecraft is not able to sustain that speed for long periods of time. It has double the crew (2) and can carry triple the passengers (6) of its predecessor.

In honor of the science fiction series (yes!) Star Trek, the first two ships are named after the starships Enterprise and Voyager. To re-enter the atmosphere SpaceShipTwoVoyager folds its wings up, and then returns them to their original position for an unpowered descent flight back onto the runway. The craft has a very limited cross-range capability and until other planned spaceports are built worldwide, it has to land in the area where it started. Further “Spaceports” are planned in Dubai and elsewhere, with the intention that the spaceline will have a world-wide availability and commodity in the future.

A small aside here: How many times have I read an article saying, ” Star Trek, for the gullible and not so simple…” I believe there actually is an attempt to debunk the idealism and bold inspiration of Star Trek as well as to debunk the existence of UFOs themselves.

Most recently I read an article by Nigel Grogan, “An Alternate Explanation to the Existence of UFOs” on UFO Digest. Mr. Grogan states that he admired and emulated the Star Trek dream when he was young but now believes UFOs may be sent from Satan to deceive us. I do not aim to debate with Mr. Grogan, but I cannot imagine feeling as he does. I cannot imagine being so far off track in using my intelligence and ability to dream; my human abilities go far beyond fundamentalist Christian beliefs which are, in my opinion, very narrow, limiting, and often needlessly dark. And, of course, the special effects and even the plots of Original Star Trek were simplistic, it was a low budget 1966 weekly television show which the censors and “suits” hated in particular.

However, at its core, Star Trek has done more to prepare humanity for the existence of aliens and the reality of life in the galaxy and other dimensions than any other factor in modern history. How many times has someone doing something really incredible, like Richard Branson and even Tom Hanks, come out of the closet as an Original Star Trek admirer and a creative force in our society? Those who mark Star Trek off as a “misleading Hollywood show which misleads the naïve,” under-estimate not only the show but those of us who love it. It gives us focus for our dreams, and intelligent hope for humankind’s future. It is fitting that civilian astronauts like Branson and Hanks who are old-time Trekkers, will be the first to go to space and see up close, actual alien starships and perhaps crew members.

Star Trek’s Enterprise

A brief reminder about the many sightings of our NASA astronauts when they boldly went where Richard Branson’s civilian astronauts will soon be boldly going:

Major Gordon Cooper:  According to a taped interview by J. L. Ferrando, Major Gordon Cooper said: “For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialists in astronautics. I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us. And there are thousands of witness reports and a quantity of documents to prove this, but nobody wants to make them public. Why? Because authority is afraid that people may think of God knows what kind of horrible invaders. So the password still is: We have to avoid panic by all means.”

“I was furthermore a witness to an extraordinary phenomenon, here on this planet Earth. It happened a few months ago in Florida. There I saw with my own eyes a defined area of ground being consumed by flames, with four indentions left by a flying object which had descended in the middle of a field. Beings had left the craft (there were other traces to prove this). They seemed to have studied topography, they had collected soil samples and, eventually, they returned to where they had come from, disappearing at enormous speed… I happen to know that authority did just about everything to keep this incident from the press and TV, in fear of a panicky reaction from the public.”

Major Robert White: On July 17, 1962 Major Robert White reported a UFO during his fifty-eight-mile high flight of an X-15. Major White reported: “I have no idea what it could be. It was grayish in color and about thirty to forty feet away.” Then according to a Time Magazine article, Major White exclaimed over the radio: “There ARE things out there! There absolutely is!”

Commander Eugene Cernan was commander of Apollo 17. In a Los Angeles Times article in 1973 he said, about UFOs: “…I’ve been asked (about UFOs) and I’ve said publicly I thought they (UFOs) were somebody else, some other civilization.”

James Lovell and Frank Borman

In December 1965, Gemini astronauts James Lovell and Frank Borman also saw a UFO during their second orbit of their record-breaking 14 day flight. Borman reported that he saw an unidentified spacecraft some distance from their capsule. Gemini Control, at Cape Kennedy told him that he was seeing the final stage of their own Titan booster rocket. Borman confirmed that he could see the booster rocket all right, but that he could also see something completely different.

Russian cosmonauts reportedly have similar tales to tell. A partial list of other U.S. astronauts who admitted to encountering UFOs: Scott Carpenter, Donald Slayton, Joseph Walker, Ed White, James McDivitt, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Maurice Chatelain.

UFO from Google Earth

It seems a forgone conclusion that those passengers aboard Richard Branson’s SpaceShipTwo will encounter the alien space craft which even we on Earth do manage to sight quite often.

Will this blow the lid off the government’s silence and policy of derision and disinformation regarding our alien visitors? Will UFO Disclosure finally happen, thanks to the dreams of an old Trekker named Richard Branson? Stay tuned!
