Three orange lights hover low near Eugene, Oregon

An Oregon witness reports watching two bright, orange lights hovering "a few hundred feet" over Fern Ridge, west of Eugene, shortly after dark on October 21, 2010, that were joined by a third light and then all three just disappeared, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The lights appeared to be about 25 percent the size of the moon, were silent, on a clear night with visible stars and a nearly full moon.

"They were stationery and after a few seconds were joined by a third light between the two," the witness stated. "All three in a straight line horizontal to the ground. A few more seconds passed and all three slowly disappeared as if they were on a rheostat. As I continued to watch for a few more seconds they all three appeared again at a lower altitude and a little further southwest and closer together. I would guess they were no more than a few hundred feet in altitude. After a few more seconds they disappeared slowly and never re-appeared. When visible they were motionless. This was all in a matter of a minute or so."

Eugene is the second largest city in Oregon, and is the county seat of Lane County, population 154,620. No images or video were provided with the MUFON report, which was filed on November 1, 2010.

Oregon is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating with a lower number of reported sightings nationally.

The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Oregon MUFON State Director Tom Bowden investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
