On 1-Aug-1952 - The US Coast Guard released a photograph of "unidentified aerial phenomena" taken on July 16 at the Salem Coast Guard Air Station. Coast Guardsman Shell R. Alpert snapped the photograph of four UFOs. The UFOs were also witnessed by another Coast Guardsman, Thomas Flaherty. Source:
