Have you ever wanted to visit Roswell? . . . to peer into Hanger 84 where crash debris and alien bodies were stored? . . . to follow Walter Haut's route as he delivered his press releases announcing recovery of the crashed saucer? . . .to study intriguing exhibits in the International UFO Museum and Research Center?. . . or just to soak up the ambiance of this small southwestern town in the middle of nowhere where it all began? Now, with Roswell, Your Travel Guide to the UFO Capital of the World! you can "Tour Roswell like a Native . . . or maybe like an Alien."
Although Lynn Michelsohn's 164 page book is intended to be a guide for actual visitors to this "outpost in the Land of Enchantment," it also transports virtual travelers to "The Pearl of the Pecos" where "something" crashed in 1947. The extended chapter entitled "On the Trail of the 1947 Roswell UFO Crash" is of most interest to UFO devotees, although the book also details locations and stories related to the Wild West of Billy the Kid and early rocket experiments of Robert Goddard.
The author does not take sides in the UFO debate but clearly identifies and describes locations and characters involved in the Roswell Incident, as well as identifying today's attractions such as the UFO Museum, souvenir shops, and various competing crash sites. Do you want to have a delicious chicken quesadilla for lunch on the spot where Nurse Selff drew aliens on a scrap of paper for Glenn Dennis as she described what she had seen during the alien autopsy, or would you rather munch a hot toasted sandwich where Radio Station KGFL manager George Walsh put the crashed saucer story on the AP wire to flash around the world? Would you like to track down the modest home where Mack Brazel hid out overnight from the military, visit the site of the alien autopsy, or even find the real life Roswell High School that is the fictionalized setting for the popular books and TV show about three alien survivors of the Crash? You can do it all as this clearly written, well organized book becomes "Your Guide to Attractions, Activities, and Oddities in the UFO Capital of the World!"
