Sri Lanka is involved in one huge UFO flap! It began around November 27th!  and as of December 14, 2012,  the Sri Lanka Air Force has been ordered into the skies to keep a 24 hour vigil for unidentified flying objects.

He said the SLAF is keeping a 24-hour vigil regarding the unidentified lights that were witnessed in the Residents in several parts of Sri Lanka have been dazzled and in some cases, sent into panic by unidentified lights emanating from UFOs in the skies of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) moved to alleviate fears that aliens from outer space are in the country’s air space.

SLAF media spokesperson Wing Commander Shiras Jalaldeen said that no unidentified craft have been picked up on radar as yet. He says the SLAF is keeping a 24-hour vigil regarding the unidentified lights that were witnessed in the skies over several parts of the country recently.

Indeed the list of reported UFO sightings over the past two weeks is a long list – from people all over the small country, but Jalaldeen said there was no clear evidence to confirm this.

However, even the primary television channel showed footage of the strange lights visible in the night sky. It claimed by the channel that these unidentified lights were witnessed in the skies above Hambegamuwa in Thanamalwila in the Eastern province at around 8.30 on Monday night. The channel also showed images captured on a mobile phone camera, in the southern skies above Ambalanthota.

Jalaldeen said that SLAF have their own air defense system in place round the clock, but it had not detected any such objects coming to Sri Lanka. Some people had even seen a beam of light emanating from an object as shown on TV.

Jaladeen stressed that a professor in astronomy at the Colombo University had reportedly dismissed such claims by pointing out that lights seen by people emanated from Mars as a result of it orbiting closer to the Earth.
